In a recent Illinois Senate vote to amend Illinois’ FY13 budget an increase in funding was only approved by a slim 10 votes, 34 Yeas to 24 Nays (on May 23, 2012 – http://ilga.gov/legislation/votehistory/97/senate/09700SB2455_05232012_004000T.pdf) . Childcare funding, specifically the Child Care Assistance Program, is slated to lose $70 million in funding.
